Voltage Drop

This calculator module, based on NEC Handbook, IEEE, IAEI and American Electricians’ Handbook recommendations, can be used to calculate voltage drop, conductor length or wire size for both AC and DC circuits. The calculations are quite detailed, and include insulation temperatures and multiple cables.

  • DC Mode: calculates DC voltage drop, including consideration for multiple conductors, conductor metal, and temperature rating of insulation. You will find this tool useful for DC lighting circuits.
  • AC Mode: In addition to the capabilities of the DC calculation, the AC mode factors in the conduit material, power factor of the load, and load configuration, e.g., delta or wye.

Like all EDR calculation modules, this module includes extensive help files for the electrical theory, NEC requirements and practical application of voltage drop calculations.
